About the Artist

Laura Jean

Maintains an art studio in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

She is a self-taught artist, creating for more than fifty years.

Laura Jean is an independent thinking woman who welcomes new adventures and challenges into her life.  She retired from the corporate hustle and bustle and is following her love of art.  Prior to retiring she was very active in the art community in San Diego, giving voice to local artists through her monthly public access TV show (Community Artist Connection) and being a part of the board of directors of Women’s Caucus for Art San Diego for more than 6 years.

She spends the majority of her time in Ensenada, every day filled with intermingling and enjoying the Mexican culture, cuisine and the people all being a source of inspiration.

She uses vibrant colors, metallic and free flowing lines to tie her concept of nature and simplicity with the observer.  She uses numerous media including acrylic, watercolor, clay, encaustic, batik and glass.

Born and raised in Southern California where she gained an appreciation for nature.  Her work has been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and is included in many private collections world-wide.
